The Challenges
Glenfield Hospital is part of the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust and had a requirement to develop their existing site to create a new renal ward, integral to the trusts wider plans to develop the city’s hospitals. A modular ‘off-site’ solution was to be cited on top of the current hospital consisting of a 12 bed Renal Transplant Unit (RTU) and Hepato Pancreto Bilary wards (HPB).
The HPB consists of a 24 bed emergency admissions unit (EAU) and 28 bed Elective Care Unit (ECU). It also encompasses a nurse base serving each ward, toilets, patient shower rooms and ancillary accommodation.
The Solutions
Mansfield Pollard were engaged to provide five air handling units to HTM 03-01 specification to serve all areas of the new modular hospital suite to be housed on two purpose built, second floor plant rooms.
In addition, a fully HTM 08-01 compliant attenuation package was to be installed via our in-house specialist team to ensure the noise specification levels did not exceed NR30. Up to 9m in length, each unit was to be craned and assembled on site. Full on-site pressure testing was required to achieve HTM 03-01 stipulated casing air leakage of a minimum L2 levels.
The Highlights
x5 HTM 03-01 & Eco-design directive 2009/125/EC compliant air handling units.
HTM 08-01 compliant custom designed attenuation package reducing noise levels to NR30 inside the hospital suite.
