The Challenge
A time-critial build combined with the ability to provide a complete solution meant MP’s specialist acoustic team were the first choice to design, supply and install a S.T.O.R. power generation acoustic & ventilation project for six gas reciprocating generator sets in a purpose built outbuilding.
The challenge was to reduce the noise impact to nearby residential receptors with all units running continuously and provide ventilation of approx 73m3/s to effectively remove heat build up in the outbuilding.
The Solution
The high level outlet section normally significantly slows the on-site build process as clear floor space is required for access and heavy lifting equipment.
MP’s engineers designed purpose built lifting frames to enable a complete off-site build. A simple crane lift through the roof ensured the safe positioning of the outlet section on to awaiting support legs. This reduced the on-site install from a number of weeks to just one day allowing other construction works to be completed on-time.
The Highlights
Total airflow achieved: 73m3/s (4 fans per module)
Noise reduction required: 65 db(a)@1m (inlet) & 62db(a) @1m (outlet)
All structural steelwork Manufactured to bs en 1090 (Exc.2)
Custom built lifting frames eradicated build time on-site.
The innovation of the Mansfield Pollard team ensured this project was completed on schedule u0026amp; on budget.
