What is Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT)? And why is it so important?

Factory acceptance testing is a process in which our products are evaluated on their accuracy, capability and performance as set out by the design specifications. These tests are done within the factory after assembly to ensure every element of a product is working as it should. This allows the end user to be confident that even the most stringent of requirements can be met.

What is the purpose of FAT?

FAT allows us to validate to the customer that the unit operates in line with our quoted values, giving the client further confidence when they come to site testing. This ensures that projects remain on target and within budget.

FAT, alongside our in-house quality checks, is an essential part of our manufacturing process and is key in providing an unbeatable level of service and satisfaction for our customers.

At Mansfield Pollard we run a number of tests that help guarantee the longevity of our products. We have both the facilities and the expertise to test our Air Handling Units to BS EN 1886, mechanical performance, and other British and European standards.

We adapt our testing methods to recreate the environment and requirements as set out by the user’s specifications to create a full system simulation that mimics real life. This results in detailed data that is tailored to the end user’s needs.

Basics tests conducted during FAT include, but are not limited to:

  • Volumetric Testing
  • Leakage Testing
  • Casing Breakout

Additional testing is also available on request, dependent on the user’s needs.

Why is FAT important?

Factory acceptance testing is not only beneficial for the end-user but also for us as manufacturers. The FAT ensures that each and every product is compliant to the latest guidelines, meets client expectations and surpasses our own incredibly high standards. It’s this level of attention to detail that guarantees consistency and high levels of customer satisfaction.

Our experienced engineers understand the demands put on our products and devote the greatest level of care and precision to the development and installation of our AHUs. We offer support and guidance at every stage of a project from initial design through to final commissioning, with meticulous testing data provided to guarantee performance.
